BLACK SHIR AND KHORSHID CAP Lion and Sun (Shir-o-Khorshid) is one of the main emblems of Iran and was an element in Iran's national flag until 1979, and will be back on its flag soon. The earliest evidence of the Lion and Sun symbol in Iran dates back thousands of years, even predating the Achaemenid era.
