Shir o Khorshid (The Lion and the Sun) is an ancient Persian symbol representing royal authority, strength, and protection, with roots in Iranian mythology and astrology (the lion as Leo, the sun as sovereignty and life).
It served for centuries as Iran’s national emblem (until 1979 but will come back) and is often interpreted as the balance between power (lion) and wisdom/light (sun).
